On 1st February SCG hosted “Meet the Police”, a public meeting at the Attlee Centre. Our panel of speakers was headed by DCS Paul Rickett (Borough Commander) and Andy Bamber (LBTH Head of Community Safer Services). Paul was supported by Chief Inspector Nigel Nottidge and Brick Lane SNT officers Sgt Richard Hunt and PC Anke Superville, whilst Andy was joined by Colin Perrin, LBTH Head of Commercial Services and Simon Baxter, Head of Clean and Green Service.
The audience comprised about 40 residents and interested parties, who listened with interest as the speakers explained their approach to working together via the Community Safety Partnership. Various topics were raised during a lively question and answer session, including the recent success of licence revocation at Public Life, licence breaches at other premises, the need for a saturation policy to safeguard the quality of life in the ward, ongoing problems with drug dealing and prostitution, and the need for facilities such as public lavatories and better street cleaning.
Many thanks to all SCG members who attended, and to Jon Shapiro for inviting Paul Rickett and Andy Bamber and their teams.
