Petition: Support Application for Licence Review of Public Life

Petition summary and background

A group of residents in Fournier Street has submitted an application to LBTH for review of the premises licence of the night club Public Life, 82a Commercial Street, E1 6LY.

The grounds for review are as follows:

Public Life has consistently been a source of public nuisance and ASB for local residents and businesses throughout 2011. Patrons using the club are frequently intoxicated and/or under the influence of drugs, behaving in a disorderly and intimidating manner.

Their offensive behaviour witnessed by residents, workers and visitors to the area includes urinating and vomiting in front of Christ Church and in the adjoining public gardens, openly buying drugs from dealers, drinking in the street thus causing a nuisance, and shouting, swearing and screaming at all times of the day and night.

Public Life repeatedly breaches the conditions attached to its licence and has regularly opened and operated outside permitted times. Noise from the club’s music system disturbs the sleep and leisure time of those inhabiting surrounding properties.

Public Life’s irresponsible approach to licence-holding, blatant lack of respect for local residents, businesses and visitors, and arrogant disregard for LBTH and the Metropolitan Police demonstrate its unworthiness to continue operating in this community.
